We make ways for us all to
be together,
sharing this unique time,
across vast distances,
holding space for the depth and breadth
of our shared human experience.
Since 2004 Urban Garden Performing Arts has been producing live arts events in, for, and with community. We craft performance events to cross-pollinate arts consumers, that are unique to the location, collaborating artists, and audiences they serve.
In April of 2020 as physical separation became necessary across the United States, as it had been in various other countries of the world, we found ourselves required to experiment with practices for live arts making on the digital stage.
We are currently making work that acknowledges, pushes against, and in some cases even capitalizes on our physical separation. We celebrate community, presence, and shared experience that digital platforms allow for, while simultaneously grieving the spatial distance between breathing bodies that they assume.
